Recent cucumber trial results show Fytocells' clear yield advantage.
During the European summer of 2004, Fytocell was part of a hydroponic
cucumber substrate trial conducted by University of Applied Science
in Dresden, Germany. The comparisons were Fytocell v's rockwool.
The growing conditions were hydroponic with standard drip irrigation & the
irrigation control was based on time and radiation, independent
of the substrate.
The results were that Fytocell produced a longer plant with more
leaves and significantly higher yield. This was due to Fytocell
having higher night oxygen levels and lower day levels. This meant
that the night water content was lower in Fytocell and that the
Fytocell roots were consuming more oxygen during the day due to
being more active.
