Melbourne Landscape Show
30th August – 1st September

Held at the Flemmington Showgrounds this was an opportunity to show our wares largely to the Landscape Industry. A mixed turnout of Landscape Designers and Landscape Contractors.
Fytowall “Your perfect vertical garden” was on display for the first time publicly. The reaction was fantastic and I think we will see many Landscapers using Fytowall as a feature. See more in our Vertical Garden section.

Hortivations
29th October – 12th November

A fantastic display of innovative products targeted at the Horticulture industry. Hosted by Ball Australia in keysborough, organizations involved include NGIV, HMA and LIAV to name a few. We displayed both the Fytowall and our New  Modular Extensive Roof Garden System. This is an extensive roof garden profile where plants are pre grown in a flexible panel. These can then be laid on a roof creating an instant garden effect. See more in our Roof Garden section.

Fytowall - Vertical Gardens

Our new Fytowall - Vertical Garden was released at the 2006 Eastern Region Landscape Architects conference in May 2006 in Darling Harbour, Sydney.

Enormous interest was generated with the live examples of Vertical Garden panels in the display area with a Mondo Grass wall and your own balcony herb garden fixed to the wall.

Also on display was the soilless turf which is ideal for converting bland balconies to vibrant green grass or converting concrete steps to turf steps. The opportunities to be creatve are limitless.

Applewood is a residential community for over 55 year-olds in Doncaster, which in 2003, incorporated water saving applications like water flow control valves into every home. Hydrocell foam (which increases water retention by up to 70 per cent) was added to all landscaped areas, which are maintained by state of the art computer irrigation systems. Reclaimed water also plays a part in Applewood's water conservation plan.

"We wanted to provide a truly sustainable outcome in regards to the environmental, economic and social impact of water," says Phillip David, Development Manager and Gandel Group. "Applewood achieved this by minimising water consumption across the site and generating real, ongoing cost savings to the residents. We also increased social awareness in regards to water sustainability."

Fytofoam Finalist - 2004 Save Water Awards

During 2003 Frankston City Council implemented conservation measures that save an estimated 23.8 megalitres of water annually – on top of long-term water reuse opportunities deriving from recycling initiatives. As playing fields account for 50 per cent of Council's total water use, measures included irrigating two major sporting reserves (comprising nine playing fields) with treated effluent, and trialling the new Fytofoam product on East Seaford reserve; applied to grass it improves water and nutrient absorption and may save 30 per cent of water used for irrigation.
